Who is wild belle

And while they have no particular negative words for their former record label, Elliot said there remains a bitter taste in his mouth from the years of navigating the intersection of art and commerce. So you have to really learn to protect yourself and defend your vision at all costs. Because every little detail is precious.

And if they like it, they like it. For Wild Belle, that involves being forward about their social and political convictions. How do you try to promote an attitude of inclusiveness and an attitude of acceptance and an attitude that would have us loving every person in our society as though they were our brother or sister?

That's really the message of the song: If the world is ending and everything is overgrown and the earth is taking over and we are no longer, then our love will survive. I do believe love can and will outlast everything. Well, "Throw Down Your Guns" is classically political.

We wanted to bring our community together. I thought it would be a beautiful thing to interpret the song in a different way. All art is political. Hopefully, it comes across as a positive message rather than a negative one or a dark one, because we are just promoting love. There are a lot of celebratory moments on the record, but I would like to touch on the fact that it was a very traumatic record to make.

We were recording a lot of it in the dead of winter in Chicago and I just come out of this relationship and I was so low. I was in this very dark, fucked up universe of drugs and self-destruction. I went to Holt's house and said, I need to borrow your electricity. Following the darker sophomore effort Dreamland , the duo went the independent route and released their audacious third album, Everybody One of a Kind , through their own label in Chicago-area natives Elliot and Natalie Bergman grew up playing music, with Elliot eventually studying jazz saxophone at the University of Michigan.

Soon after, the duo began working on Natalie 's songs and Wild Belle was born. A year later, the duo released the single "Keep You" and drew label interest after a high-profile show at Austin's South by Southwest Festival. In , Wild Belle released their debut album, Isles , on Columbia. Inspired in part by personal turmoil, the album saw the pair deliver a deeper, fuller-sounding album.

The resulting Dreamland was released in April My Paradiso, my Heaven. Believing in that place has been my greatest consolation. I had an urgency and desperation to know that my father was there. His sudden death was a whirling chaos that assaulted my mind. Gospel music gives me hope.

It is the good news.
